It was all about 'The Twist' as Twisted Textures and Prime Gentlemen Barbershop presented the event to celebrate 1 year in the business. The event was filled with an awesome energy along with sounds of legendary DJ, Johnny O and The DNA Level C band. The event also featured spoken word artists as well as a fashion presented by druChristine Couture.
'The Twist' stood it's own on a night with several other events, but Cleveland's natural hair community and the like came out and represented and showed much love and support. Natural beauties filled the House of Blues' Cambridge Room for a night of networking and an overall great time!
The party started right on cue as guests began to fill the Cambridge Room early to take in the sounds of Johnny O as he treated guests to some classic hip hop tunes setting the mood with some soulful tunes while guests enjoyed a few light appetizers while catching up with old friends and making new connection.
As Karlin "Arrogant" took over the event and commanded the crowd, partygoers knew they were in for truly a unique experience. Alongside Jonathon 'Songchild', the evening continued with some of the city's best and brightest spoken word talent including B Hosley, Underground Kween, Eris Zion, Red Strype and One Truth.
Just as the crowd was in a truly mellow state, The DNA Level C Band, pushed the vibe to the next level with a few tunes including Marsha Ambroiuos 'Far Away' who...I may add was in the next room, but Kit and Missa Thompson definately held their own and shut the place down!!!
The night continued as Shawn, owner Prime Gentleman Salon took the stage to present his staff of talented barbers.
druChristine Couture concluded the presentations with a fashion show featuring fall hues. The designs truly accenuated the hair designs by Twisted Textures owner, Eryana and Donnella. The collaboration was a perfect end to a perfect event.
The event was filled with many friends and family and supporters including, Laiteisha Bobbins of Au Naturel Magazine, Maiya Jones (Footprints), Wyesha Simmons of WINK (Women of Natural Hair and Kinks), Monica Green (Kinky Curly Straight), socialite Nicole Tucker, Ladosha Wright (Reverence Design Style team) and Senator Shirley Smith.
The event was truly enjoyed by all as guests left with one question, : "WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE???"
